"...soaring and dynamic in all the ways you’d hope, building from a tight, propulsive shimmer to humongous waves of distortion, topped off with a bright, yearning hook that makes the band feel plucky despite the hard-crashing sound." - Stereogum

"[Blueprinting] a soaring track that veers between emo and shoegaze sounds." - Brooklyn Vegan

"The riffs churn with the intensity of waves in a storm, the choruses aim for the atmosphere. There’s shades of alt-rock titans like Jimmy Eat World and Superchunk all throughout Nothing Moves Me, with maybe a little more bite and a little more space." - The Alternative

1.
You made it home again I waited anxiously for you to hit send Ran every scenario out in my head We were reckless I don’t mean to fall apart I’ve known too many friends who were just gone You never really know How much it takes a toll Oh what you’ll find When you push those feelings inside They always come out in the worst way Like I’m a hurricane I don’t mean to fall apart Like I’m the only one who’s got A big sinking hole In place of my heart and lungs We’re on the edge of something And we can’t push on I try to help it along But nothing moves me Nothing moves me
2.
We’re only set as far as anyone can see A passing moment where the stars align Don’t hesitate now It’s all that I can do Stay with it now and see it through I’m willing to try if You say you want to I’m looking for a path to let go of the feeling Where I keep looking out and everyone Is barely breathing It’s all that I can do Stay with it now and see it through I’m willing to try if You say you want to Don’t say you only want to be here for now I’m gonna make my way to fight through the clouds Cause I’m still clawing at that nagging feeling Trying to stay afloat It’s all that I can do Stay with it now and see it through I’m willing to try if You say you want to It’s all that I can do Stay with it now and see it through I’m willing to try if You say you want to

Blueprinting 03:51
It’s not the same Without you Holding up the walls around me But it’s not what you want It’s not what you need Picking up a weight you can’t carry When every day’s A bad dream Winding roads that end in defeat The signs were all wrong The dead end I saw Was not the way out I hoped it would be No change Better off home fast asleep No chance Find the strength, wake up and leave No change Better off home fast asleep No chance Find the strength, wake up and leave No change Better off home fast asleep No chance Find the strength, wake up and leave
4.
Mach 4 02:22
I found another Way to hold my head There’s truth to discover If I can only let it in You should see me When I’m on the move Lightning fast Locked in a groove I can’t lose I won’t let me Throw it all away I’ve got no memory So what’s the difference (Never gonna get it right) I missed the brake coming in I always seem to beg For the to change to come Swift and miserable Don’t let me Don’t let me slip away Don’t let me
5.
From a blanket view I’m always covered up and blue It’s nothing like a blank page Nothing like I’m hollowed through It’s hard to keep maintaining I’m always pushing you away To hide the feeling But I can’t fake Away the shame I’m sick of empty hope and consolation prizes I don’t know anything I’m running as fast as I can I don’t see a finish line anywhere Just shadows of a sad helping hand Get started You’ll only be lost on the way Tell me I’m only just lost on the way I don’t know anything I’m running as fast as I can I don’t see a finish line anywhere Just shadows of a sad helping hand I don’t know anything I’m running in circles again I don’t see a finish line anywhere I’m moving along where I can
6.
Weightless 02:35
I’m only hoping that no one’s calling out for me Afraid of knowing Falling quick so you don’t See me Staring blankly at the wall Could I push hard enough to See me? Haunted wonder Left my body back at home Separated from my skin Floating high but you don’t See me Staring blankly at the wall Could I push hard enough to See me? I don’t wanna know if you’ve been lonely And I don’t care what you said I don’t wanna think about the stupid shit That I let in my head Spinning over how The ashes fly The same white noise I See materialize The sky is falling Right before my eyes
7.
Round 2 06:11
Move ahead Lose yourself instead You just can’t win Do your worst Fake the rest and take it At a slow pace You’ll take it in The same as anything You’ll take it in You’ll take it in Struggling to see what’s right in front of me Cause I can barely Find a way to see what I believe Not my time But I think I Should probably try It’s a tough break One you can’t change You’ll take it in You’ll take it in
8.
Away Team 03:16
You’re always hiding Just waiting to find out who you are There’s no use in trying Your luck could only get this far Is it hard to go? To leave it all behind When you can’t fight The weight that’s held you down for so long Roll in after midnight I made the choice alone to get right Nothing I can say To tell you how I landed in this place I want more I know they can save me from the truth I’m not sure I can stay and still push through They’re all knowing And I’m going along If I dedicate my life to this Can I escape my existence Roll in after midnight I made the choice alone to get right Nothing I can say To tell you how I landed in this place I want more I know they can save me from the truth I’m not sure I can say the same for you
9.
What do you do When the void fills you? A steady flow of vacant thoughts The sum of which is nil Like our world Dissolved to nothing And I’m stuck Staring at the moon Cocktail Of missing time And coffee that I made It flows through my body til I’m swirling down the drain It’s all gone Dissolved to nothing And I’m done Feeling like I know I’m set on standby Switch is glowing But the sound just ain’t right Why can’t I Flip it on to save My life It’s all gone It’s all gone
10.
Paralyzed and uncertain Glued to the couch Can’t see through the rain We’re dragging along with an open wound We’re left for dead with no rescue I know I shouldn’t hold my breath But I hope this isn’t permanent We’re bursting at the seams Dragging along with no way to choose Left for dead with no rescue I know I shouldn’t hold my breath But I hope this isn’t all we get It’s taking a toll Everywhere we go And I can’t help but run away From everything I know

about

RAD-068:

With 50+ years of sonically diverse alternative music to draw from, it seems intuitive that a band would utilize the full scope of sounds available to them in order to synthesize something uniquely their own. Be that as it may, most acts are happy to retread old ground with little deviation from the established formulas. Denver, CO’s Broken Record is not one of those bands.

On Nothing Moves Me—their second LP and Really Rad Records debut—Broken Record delivers a lovingly crafted ode to the music that inspired them while carving out a space that defies easy categorization. Shimmering, chorus-drenched leads simultaneously evoke both the post-emo alt-rock of Turnover and Title Fight and the 80s post-punk groups that served as those bands’ muses. Gigantic, fuzzy choruses bring to mind the most triumphant singalongs of 90s indie rock. Soaring vocals and tasteful theatricality demonstrate an unabashed affinity for radio-ready emo acts of the early 2000s like Bayside and Taking Back Sunday. The result is a record that is far beyond the sum of its parts, delicately balancing each element in perfect harmony. Whether it’s in the bending, shoegaze-informed riffs or the propulsive, power-pop refrains, Nothing Moves Me deftly maneuvers the razor-thin tightrope between experimentation and cohesion.

The comfort of the familiar is an ever-tempting proposition, while the excitement of the novel is an alluring prospect in its own right. With Nothing Moves Me, Broken Record ask simply, “Why not both?”
